Humanities professors are victims of what Nietzsche called ressentiment, with all that entails.

I’ve got more degrees than 99.9% of them, from better schools in more difficult subjects. I just couldn’t stand being around them and working for the low pay (Well, it’s not low for them, but it would have been low for me).

After having sat through 10 years of humanities lectures in universities across the country, I can say from direct experience that if the humanities departments of every university in the Western world disappeared tomorrow, it would be no big deal. Again, Nietzsche called it back in the 19th century when he said that only 1 professor in 100 was actually worthy of the position.
