It doesn’t help that the British troops in the south of Iraq are following a completely different strategy from the Americans in the west, pulling back to their fortress-like bases rather than going out and engaging the enemy (and the people). That’s given the militias and insurgents mostly free rein in the area AFAIK. Instapundit has a link.
