I do not know about passionless, but message movies usually strike me as being thoughtless. As soon as you see the synopsis (or ad) for something like Rendition you already know who the Good Guys are and who the Bad Guys are, and that nothing will happen that questions a Message that you already know.
So why watch the film, when you know everything about it already?
It will be almost pure duckspeak.
