personal liberty, and freedom. Educate me Brits! Trying to understand you more. (I haven’t written you off, although the MSM, BBC, etc crucified Sarah Palin who is the only reason why I voted for McCain, she is a fiscal conservative that has actually DONE something..I never met a politician that did anything they said they were going to do while campaigning..caught me off guard). I hope GovPalin does a great job in AK and educated herself on foreign affairs and comes back strong…I want her to become like Maggie Thatcher. (I have no political heroes

Maggie Thatcher was wonderful – saved us from the jaws of socialist ruin – and New Labour under Blair and Brown have all-but squandered her legacy. A bloated public sector – Labour’s client state – and ever-intrusive laws, of which the disgraceful smoking ban, so damaging to our wonderful pubs, is one.

Not all our press was against Sarah Palin. Some articles in The Times and The Telegraph spoke up for her. I suspect the opposition was motivated by the same force that led people to oppose Thatcher: misogyny, combined with the fact that she is – and Thatcher was – conservative. If Thatcher had been Labour, and if Palin had been a Democrat, the feminists would have been all over them both.

Do visit again. Americans – or anyone – with an open-minded attitude and a positve approach are welcome here, and are better placed to enjoy themselves.
