When I got married just over two years ago we had made the decision to keep our finances separate. This was easy to do because we both have in-demand careers with great earnings and earning potential. We agreed on how the living expenses would be split. For us, a gift is a GIFT… if I buy her something, I do it with MY MONEY. My financial priorities are my priorities, and hers are hers. I’d recommend this approach at this point.
