SAF: You make several good points, but I do have to dispute this one:
“Hillary has no shot at becoming president ever if Obama has anywhere near an OK first term.” You could have stopped after the word “ever”. There is no “if” involved. Secretary of State would be an absolute dead-end for Hillary. Who was the last person to go from Secretary of State to President? That’s right, the great James Buchanan.
Unfortunately, most of the recent Secretaries of State, regardless of party, have turned into simple administrators doing what they are told by the career diplomats.
For Obama, this would be a brilliant appointment. He can send her into any no-win situation and let everyone see that she never really was qualified for a top-level executive job.
