The problem here John is that a very large percentage of the population depends directly on the government for a paycheck. So what is good for the province as a whole isn’t necessarily good for the average government employee voter. The government owns the power, gas, and telephone utilities as well which gives them even more dependent voters. That can be a hard nut to crack for the opposition.
