ATTN: TO ALL GAY ACTIVISTS PROTESTING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION:
Hmmmm….What exactly are your expectations here? What do you really expect to happen? Do you expect society in general and/or the voting public to just say, in essence:
“Oh…We’re so sorry. You were right. We were wrong. Now let’s just change that silly ol’ law and disenfranchise those voters, ok?”
Do you not believe in the “will” of the democracy and the people? Do you believe at all in the election process? Going to court and challenging the will of the people only distances you further from your goals. It angers those who believe that our country was founded on the principals of democracy.
The votes were cast, the election is done, finis. GET OVER IT! Just as Obama was elected and there are millions upon millions of disappointed people on the other side who did NOT incidently, take to the streets and threaten, cajole, and intimidate people, it is now time for you all to accept the results and stop behaving like spoiled children. Concede graciously and quietly and then prepare for the next election, just as McCain voters have done and are doing.
You say that you want society to “respect” you, and treat you “like human beings”. Well, perhaps it’s time that you behaved that way…. Storming into churches, knocking down little old ladies, ripping up signs, and generally just making a social terrorist out of yourselves and your cause furthers nothing but contempt for what you stand for. It certainly doesn’t endear you to anyone….
Go back to your corner, take a warm bath, meditate, and get ready for Round 2. Perhaps you will have better luck next time. Otherwise, you risk losing the support of those who just might vote your way next time.
