Questions are now being raised. People are wondering why, when she knew of the attacks, she chose to take a slow moving procession in a bullet and blast proof truck while the dedicated workers of her party were walking exposed in that procession.
Oh please. The issue is with the mindless, backward, barbarians that Pakistan has cultivated in its frontier areas.
Blaming the victim will not solve Pakistan’s problem. In another time, she would be praised for not submitting to the will of the terrorists. For defying their threats.
Now ‘people are wondering why’—.
Pakistan may well be fed up with the
‘extremists’ but that matters not at all. The ‘extremists’ don’t have to be the majority in order to bring the Pakistani house of card crashing down. And I can assure you that it won’t be the ‘liberals’ who stop them by giving then a good thrashing in their post-dinner conversations.
The Frontier Areas and the stupidity they export, are a cancer upon the Pakistani State. Either they are brought under control or sooner rather than later the State will collapse. And frankly I have some serious doubts that the large but ‘unreliable’ Pakistani Army is capable of doing the job.
Democracy is all well and good, but it requires a monopoly of State power in order to survive. An alliance of popular politics and military might is Pakistan’s only hope of avoiding the abyss.
