it’s not a question of whether we caused it or not, the fact is that our work over the past 4 years has created the conditions where it could happen. You know the old saying, “You can lead a horse to water…”? Well, the FIRST step is to have water. Don’t matter if you have a thirsty horse or not, no water = no chance to drink or not.
The Coalition has spent 4 long years setting up the conditions where the Iraqis could reasonably self-determine their own fate. It’s encouraging that given the choice between a secular democracy and an islamofascist state they seem to have chosen democracy (or at least an Arabic version close enough to qualify as such).
