Let’s Take Some Pride in Obama’s Election — No Matter Who We Voted For
“The Iraqis are better off now then they were under Sadam Hussein.”
Well, unless they are dead that is, which lots of them are.
Certainly the millions of professionals who have left the country to find refuge in Europe are better off too.
The rest of them may be a little bit better off now but it’s still hardly a picnic over there.
What I don’t understand though is why the most murderous, dictatorial, corrupt, terrorist and radicalist sponsoring and undemocratic regime in the region (Saudi Arabia) is still sucked up to, sold arms and generally feted by the west.
The fact that we are not talking about invading Riyadh just goes to show that ‘bringing freedom’ is not our goal in the region, we just want to install pro-western puppet governments. Maybe some think that’s fine if it promotes our interests but we should at least be honest about it and forget all this ‘bringing democracy’ bs.
