Im a 48 year old american female and all I know is that, even tho I have wonderful parents, I was SO ready to be on my own at 18. I set off for college, and with the exception of holidays, I have never been back home. I retain a great relationship with the folks, but I dont think they would be too anxious to have ME back home either.
