But Americans already pay through taxes for Medicare and Medicaid, in amounts that would be enough to pay for most European health systems covering the whole population.
Not to mention the free emergency room treatment for uninsured people, this isn’t free, the cost gets added to your insurance premiums. It would be much cheaper and more efficient to just give these people access to cheap preventative care rather than wait until they are so sick they need to have expensive emergency procedures which the insured will end up paying for anyway.
