I worked for a man who had this problem. He would give me explicit instructions not to put any calls through when he was in a meeting but his wife would call constantly and insist on being put through even for stupid things such as what color towels she should buy. I was always in an untenable position. I had no respect for him because he wouldn’t stand up to her and I couldn’t stand her because she was so annoying.
