Well, in Jersey such things (election fraud, illegal donations, etc.) happen routinely, because the system of checks and balances has completely broken down. The media doesn’t report it because they’re not the ‘fourth estate’ – they’re businesses, trying to survive (and NOT make waves). And high-profile ‘media critics’ who live here (Jeff Jarvis) never take the Jersey media to task for this, because – they’re CLIENTS.
Here in Hudson County, the politically-appointed county prosecutor has NEVER investigated or indicted a single politically-connected official. Never. And when NJ (Federal) prosecutor Chris Christie does so, the local media attacks him for ‘political meddling’.
If it works here – and it does – it was only a matter of time before this type of politics worked everywhere.
