I believe that our level of anxiety or depression is hard-wired into us. If we do not have starvation or danger to worry us, we worry about whatever is next up on the list. This level of restlessness may actually have survival value in priming alertness and problem-solving behavior.

Alternatively, it may be as simple as the fact that we get less sleep than earlier eras – just under two hours a night less than our ancestors would have.

Either way, the point of the essay is correct: you ordered it, you eat it.
