Regarding gun violence in Chicago — CBS2Chicago reported:
on April 20, 2008 — “32 shot, 2 stabbed, 6 dead — the deadly weekend of violence continues…”
Helicopters were being used to monitor gang violence.
I recall this violence. And Obama’s casual response to it, “Isn’t it a shame — I’d like to talk to the Mayor about it.” Unbelievable.
My point is that the work of Obama, Wright, Pfleger, Ayers and others results in stoking the flames of hate, envy and resentment. Their ways promote violence against one another. They’ve been so successful, one wonders if this is actually their goal.
Obama has had much to say about (voted often) limiting – even denying – a man’s right to carry or own a gun. But he has had nothing to say about the hate and resentment that is promoted in his own church.
For a man so reportedly brilliant, I’m struck by how he cannot connect a pastor’s teaching of hate – and his own partnerships with those who’ve ripped off a community – with the inevitable anger and violence they produce.
Obama proposes to take away the wrong thing: guns.
I’d rather he take away the preachers of hate and envy.
I’d rather he take away the corrupt politicians.
I think he’d then find citizens living more harmoniously with one another. Rather than despair, they might have a glimmer of hope.
But as I said, Chicago sure isn’t the picture of Hope and Change.
