I’d agree that Obama has the advantage. In fact it’s surprising he is not doing better, considering all the advantages the Democrats enjoy this year: an unpopular two-term Republican incumbent, an unpopular war, and an epochal economic meltdown.
Nonetheless this has been about the most peculiar election cycle in my lifetime. If there were ever a vote to go against the poll odds — like Hillary’s astonishing victory over Obama in the New Hampshire primary — this presidential election next week is it.
