You call Dr. Zuhdi Jasser a “mainstream Muslim leader”. Alas, you are so, so wrong! Dr. Jasser may be a Muslim even though he has renounced the ummah as his primary loyalty, and even though he denounces the ulema, the religious leaders, and political Islam. But, Dr. Jasser is NOT a leader of anything because he has practically no following. And he is definitely NOT mainstream. The Muslim community has practically ostracized him; the imams call him “extremist” — because of his loyalty to America instead of to the ummah.
Dr. Jasser is doing courageous work in exposing political Islam, but we must not get our hopes up that he represents the Muslim community. He doesn’t!
