Matt, the fact is that most of us who remember the Carter years remember them as a very tough period for us. I don’t know about you, but for me it was not easy finding work after I got out of the Army and during my college years that started with Carter’s presidency. High unemployment. High inflation. High interest rates. Low business investment. It was not a good time to be young and starting out then. If you think it was a good time, then you are out of touch with how many of us had to slog through it. You may want to repeat the Seventies, but I don’t.
