Fred – I don’t think the Gramscian march is the cause of this shift. It is the effect of natural trends. The Tyler (Tytler) Cycle explains it perfectly:
Bondage> Spirituality> Liberty> Affluence> Selfishness> Apathy> Dependence> Bondage
We were in apathy about 10-20 years ago. Voter turnout was incredibly low. Our vote didn’t matter. “Same soul with a different face.” – Prince
We’ve been moving into dependence for some time now. Free this, that, and the other. Populism from both parties. That’s where all the massive spending comes from. The bailout has put us firmly there, now. This will swiftly lead to bondage. The only way out will be for people to seek spirituality, that is, turn back to God. And so it goes.
When the student is ready; the teacher appears. When the slave is ready; the slavemaster appears.
