Alaska is a VERY difficult place to live by nature of its climate, so as to incentivize its inhabitants it pays them energy money to help with the costs (physical, emotional, etc) imposed by living in that extreme circumstance. That has less to do with Socialism (since they can’t live on $3,269 per year “four figure” check…lol) but can benifit their inhabitants by giving them a yearly heating allowance as it were based.
