Galen, you’re probably a troll, and at the risk of feeding the trolls, I will simply point out that the self-righteous fulmination here is your anti-American rage. Richard’s review notes Ledeen’s unhappiness with American NONRESPONSE to many Iranian provocations going back to when Khomeini took power. Did you bother to read it?

The only wild exaggeration is that coming from you as you IGNORE HISTORY to spout your anti-American hatred. Convenient of you to insist that the events of the 6 YEARS since 9/11 are representative of all American actions since the mullahs took power OVER 25 YEARS AGO, when Richard clearly cites from the book the example of government officials who don’t want to act against Iran despite clear-cut evidence. Convenient of you to ignore that 1950s US intervention in Iran occurred during the then-uncertain and seemingly-endless Cold War with the USSR. Convenient of you to ignore that representative government that respects its minorities is not easy, even for its most experienced practitioner, the USA. Finally, you’d counsel acting only when the danger is upon you, and not take action earlier as prudence would dictate.

This is the worthless analysis of a crackpot.
