David Thomson accurately summarized the rhetoric of the left, including the Democratic Party. But how long will that hold up when people realize that it applies to them personally? Are Americans of a self-loathing persuasion really going to agree to be slaughtered, bombed, enslaved, or anything else because, after all, we deserve it? Or are they going to scream for the government to defend them at all costs when the danger is very real? Ted Kennedy’s environmental credentials stop short of obstructing his view. It’s very easy to be high minded and impress all your friends, when it’s all just talk and there’s no price to pay.
