Glad you did NOT get flooded out.
Now – some tricks for you..
First – go to equipped.org , and go to the forums. Believe it or not, this type of scenario is discussed ALL the time. You’ll learn tricks that you would never thing of.. (for instance – have a wtaerproof box that has all your important documents in it – Birth certificates, Marrage licenses, insurance policies etc – and have it in a place that you can just “grab it and GO”
Second – find out if your neighborhood has a CERT/NERT team – and join. The probably have as much inside info as the cops for this kinda stuff, and maybe MORE, as they talk with floks like the Red Cross all the time
