Navarette, your argument is overly simplistic and you know it (and if your don’t, you really shouldn’t be a journalist).

It’s easy to take a phrase like “spread the wealth” and twist it into something that sounds like socialism. How very lazy and fear-mongering of you.

“Spread the wealth” can also mean making our rates of taxation MORE fair. This is how Obama meant it — look at his actual tax plan for proof.

The reason why “Joe the Plumber” has been so widely debunked is because he is a fake symbol, not the person he claimed to be, and therefore not representative of an argument against Obama’s policies.

If you want to argue in favor of trickle-down economics, fine, just say it – but don’t do it in the name of Joe.

C’mon Navarette – do your readers a service and try a little harder to raise the journalistic bar here.
