Are you really a businessman because you didn’t mention the risks and responsibilites a businessman has. Show me where you can invest 45,000 into a 401K, for 2008 it was 15,500 maximum for all plans. That 250,000 equipment is a business expense. You had to actually spend the money not just pencil it on your return. Your home office expenses should be reported on your personal return as income! Many tax deductions disappear for those earning way less than 250K.
