Hey Mr. Navarrette, why is it considered “drubbing” merely to investigate the claims that “Joe the Plumber made? He claimed he was a plumber trying to buy a business, and that Obama’s tax plan (specifically, the modest increase in taxes for those making over $250K) would make it more difficult. And John McCain championed his cause. Well, as it turns out the guy’s not a plumber, and he’s not thinking of buying the business, and his boss isn’t thinking of selling. And the business doesn’t make anywhere near the amount that would put his earnings over $250K even if he were to buy it. So ironically “Joe the Plumber” would be considerably better off under Obama’s tax policies than currently, whether or not he bought the business. As it turns out it was just a Republican hit on Obama, with no basis in fact or reality whatsoever. And you think that finding these facts out is an example of “drubbing” the poor idiot? Get your head out of the sand, Rube.
