its true that too many greeks throw their burning cigarettes out their car windows and blind granmothers are BBQing but some fires are obviously intentional and the main reason is $$$.
if we go beyond that this main issue, the next is the greeks ideas of urgency. they have grown so used these fires and for the most part dont mind some forest burning.
the big problem was when the fires approached the villages and the people, then international help was called for and then only were people beginning to be willing to fight off fires with a branch and a bucket of water.
people then died defending there property and their “fortunes” and within days everyone was in line trying to get their 3000 euros while the forest and the towns beyond them were now burning. forget the government payout for at least 3 weeks (cause im sure u didnt keep all ur money in the box in ur house that burned) and help put out the fires in the near by areas.
its basically a lesson that people needed to defend the forest and creatures that lived like their home and family and not act only when it was ur own possessions at risk, cause now its too late and the fire is too big and ur still chasing after money instead of saving ur precious nation.
