Regarding spreading the wealth.
This nation was founded over 200 years ago.
How many times have the rich, especially those who now proudly stand up & say they should and can afford to pay more in taxes, sent a check into the Department of the Treasury, because they felt they should pay more?
Gates, Buffet, Soros (especially Soros), the Hollywood nut-jobs, the media elite, the academic elite, etc., have sent not penny one in addition to the taxes currently collected.
There have been NO barriers erected to stop these do-good idealists from sending in additional funds, yet none of them send in cent one in addition to the current tax burden they are responsible for. In fact, many of these very same folk, pay ridiculous sums of money to financial managers & auditors & accountants…. to find them each & every tax loophole, shelter, & deduction they can possibly concoct. They also lobby for special tax shelters to be legislated, so they can avoid paying taxes.
The “I can afford to pay more or the the rich should pay more, or the I think its right we pay more” crowd, are blowing hot air on this one. Their checkbooks have remained closed & come 2009, 2010, & every year thereafter, these same folks will be using each & every tax loophole of dodge they can find to avoid paying taxes. Look for huge sums of money from these very same folks, to be moving into banks in nations where their account balances are kept secret from the Internal Revenue Service.
In short….. its better to let those who have earned the money decide when, where, why, how, & even if, they will spread around their personal wealth. In most cases, once someone controls spending another’s money (that has been taken by force of law under the guise of doing good), ineptitude, corruption, fraud, mismanagement, & outright theft always becomes the typical result. For decades the United Nations has been responsible for helping the world’s poor. Their results are less than pathetic. In fact, their results are rife with the very same ineptitude, corruption, fraud, mismanagement, & outright theft have become the normal for the UN in numerous & multiple examples which they have successfully been able to obscure with a financial accounting that lacks any transparency at all.
So if the “rich” really think they should be paying more taxes, I suggest they begin right away & not wait for an Obama presidency. I will not hold my breath waiting for all of those large checks to start pouring into the treasury!
