Wow, 1160 comments about this story and counting. On the one hand, I have to say thank God for the Internet, because if this had been the 1960s this kind of story would never have seen the light of day.

On the other hand, the Internet has now created the kind of divided, partisan society we had hoped never to see in our lifetime. To top that, we’ve got one side or the other suggesting illegal acts in order to keep the “other” side in line. In whose line? Yours?

“In this world, there is right, and there is wrong, and that distinction is not difficult to make.” One might think that quote came from the mouth of one of our Founding Fathers, or another patriotic soul from back in the day when we actually fought for our freedom – but no, this came from a comic book writer, and was placed in the mouth of a certain super-heroic character. But the words resonate – there is right and wrong in this world, but you have to be willing to stand up for right, even if you don’t personally agree with it. And you have to be willing to fight against wrong, even if somehow you might benefit from that wrong.

It’s called “truth.” And “justice.” This partisan bickering and name-calling needs to stop, so we can get our country back on track. And whoever is elected to whatever office needs to understand the requirement that they represent us all, not just those who voted for them (or who lined their pockets with campaign cash).

Let’s get to work.
