Obama Supporter Assaults Female McCain Volunteer in New York
This really makes me sad. All this “party-ism” and both sides same the same things about the other… “All Republicans are violent” and “All Democrats are violent”
It seems to me that we have violence on both sides. The man who hit that lady should go to jail and when his fellow inmates find out he hit a women, well, he’ll probably end up with more then a back eye.
But, what can I say for all the posts here that also promote fear and violence? “Go buy A gun”, “I’ll shot them were they stand”, “I’ll fight you until hell freezes over” the list goes on ad nauseam.
I want to live in a country that values things like Humility (because we, ourselves, are human and make mistakes); Tolerance (Because we live with other humans that make mistakes); Forgiveness (I am ashamed to say, I have been offered it more then I have offered it myself. I also feel what those resentments I hold onto do to my soul)
I doubt either candidate will destroy this great nation, only we can do that. Divided we fall. Then again, I think that if we do fall then we no longer deserve this nation. But if we remember that neither side has all the answers, That democracy is built on compromise (our founding fathers hated democracy’s so they had the foresight to form our nation as a republic); That through our history, when we swing to far to the right the next cycle swings us to far to the left (and I think most would agree that Bush has been a pretty far swing to the right) but we always end up back in the middle.
Lets put away the fear and trust that what has held us together this long will continue to do so. We live in fear of our neighbor, we fear terrorists, we fear our government, we fear our food, our water, we fear whats in our minds and whats in our hearts. The fear isn’t health, it promotes violence, stress and dis-ease.. It maybe anti-intuitive but lets put away the fear. Lets come together as a nation, under whoever “wins” the election and rebuild, create and pass on a nation that is better then the one we were given. Maybe one without fear?
