We did do civil unions. It wasn’t enough for the gay community. This was never about equal rights – just like the pal situation isn’t about statehood. What the gays actually want is to destroy the church. They want the ability to sue the churches if/when they refuse to marry them (gays). It’s just another tactic of the left to get Christianity out of the public eye. To nullify it – to secularize everything.
