An unsubstantial story here reflects the overall unsubstantial campaigns being run by both parties. The fact that we give credence and political relevance to stories like these–regardless of the individual being attacked–just shows how far our compassion for humanity has dwindled. Someone is physically attacked by a crazed individual and we use it as a megaphone to condemn the masses for their political views. It’s a sad state of affairs to be sure.
