The warning signs were twenty years ago. The Madrid conference for Mid East Peace with the two sides arguing versions of history was the snapping point. From then on, there was nothing to talk about, the incitement kept rising and the world not only said nothing, Jews were told, we would get peace in the Middle East, the Arabs just need to vent their anger. Instead the anger has fed on itself to the point that the West reflexively does not speak out against antisemitism, the left walks hand in hand down the boulevards with nazis (there are no neo-nazis, a nazi is a nazi, period) and Islamists howling for Jewish blood.

Orwell lamented of the last man in Europe, that was Margaret Thatcher, from then on, it has been straight downhill for the Jews of Europe and Israel-European relations leaving Israel with two friends, Micronesia and the US.

While don’t trust Obama on Israel it is not because I think he has some hidden evil plan to destroy her, I just think he is so clueless on foreign policy and has surrounded himself with leftist advisors whose ideas just fail in the real world, that the effect is the same: in the face of a rising tide of bigoted hatred, you have a President who doesn’t stand up and say, you can criticize Israel for not moving fast enough on peace but the single greatest barrier to peace is hatred. When Israel feels safe, peace can happen, when Israelis see the Islamic world calling for their genocide, they rightly question the peace process.
