The thing I found odd, and rather disturbing, about Mr. Derbyshire’s review is his utterly sanguine contemplation of the coming enslavement of Christians. The Derbyshire attitude (and that expressed by many comments here) seems to be that, Christian doctrine is just as preposterous as Muslim doctrine, so who cares which group kills, rapes or enslaves the other? Derbyshire says “True that Muslims have killed many thousands for religious reasons in the last few years but what about the Crusades and Galileo?

Look, guys, the Crusades were a long time ago. Do you really think the Christians will be murdered and enslaved but the atheists will be allowed to go their merry way? Derbyshire lives happily in a broadly Christian society (even though other societies, less God-ridden societies are available). I am not confident he would live as happily in the coming Muslim Caliphate. Despite the Crusades.
