This won’t be a big money-maker in theaters. But I predict it will become a perennial holiday classic on TV, much like “The Wizard of Oz,” “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
Generations of Americans will get to share the heartwarming story of the miserable drunken failure who reduced America to a sick, enfeebled parody of itself. Who could watch the embarrassing, catastrophic arc of this man’s pointless, wasted, self-serving life without feeling a little bit better about their own?
