According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a bigot is defined as “a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.” By his own words, David Matthews indicts himself as the bigot in this discussion. His use of ad hominem characterizations such as Robert KKK Spencer and his hyperbolic and idiotic declaration of moral equivalency between bin Laden and Spencer convict him beyond a reasonable doubt.
To answer his questions more succinctly:
I would not put American Muslims in a concentration camp. If any engage in acts or conspiracies to act against the government or the people of the United States, I would imprison them, if they are U.S. citizens, and I would deport them if they are not. If innocents were killed, I would execute them.
I would not drop a nuclear bomb on Mecca or Medina without provocation. However, if any Islamofascists were to attack the United States with any form of radiological weapon, I would turn Medina into a glowing, green glass parking lot and then I would tell the Islamofascists that survive that, next time, it will be Mecca. Sadly, history teaches us that it sometimes takes two nuclear bombs to convince totalitarians with imperialistic hegemonic goals (like the Emperor of Japan in 1945 and maybe the Islamofascists of today) to back off.
Mr. Matthews not only lacks moral or intellectual clarity, he also proves himself not to be a Constitutional scholar.
As the Supreme Court has already observed, “the Constitution is not a suicide pact.” The interpretation of the Bill of Rights under the Constitution has always been a careful balancing act: e.g. free speech vs. screaming “Fire!” in a crowded theatre when there is no fire.
Similarly, freedom of religion can not extend to any group which adopts, as part of its belief system, the goal of overthrowing the government (by violence if necessary), replacing the Constitution with its own code of laws which would deny that same freedom of religion to everyone else.
Groups which advocate the overthrow of the government and replacement of the constitution are not religious they are seditious criminal conspiracies and must be dealt with accordingly. None of the freedoms in the Bill of Rights extends to the freedom to cause physical harm to others, blow up buildings, kill innocents, and the list goes on.
But Matthews’ contention that Spencer is the western equivalent of bin Laden and that his followers want to commit genocide against a billion Muslims reveals for all to see that he is a troll for the Islamofascists. No, Mr. Matthews, it is the Islamofascists who want to commit genocide against the infidels. Just ask the Armenians, they will tell you all about it. All the infidels want is to be left alone.
To say that jihadist Islam is a murderous cult of death with gobal hegemonic pretensions which presents a clear and present danger to Western civilization is not bigotry, Mr. Matthews, it is simply the truth. Al Zawahiri and bin Laden say so.
