Spencer wins. Too often those defending the west and its values are more concerned with shooting the blokes on the ramparts next to them than aiming at the enemy. Derb admits that he is generally unfamiliar with Sencer’s writings, allowing that Spencer might have a plan for solving this problem in his previous books, but Derb doesn’t really care enough to find out.

This tends to show that he has a lot to catching up to do before he is qualified to comment further on this topic – unless dismissive pithiness is his plan. You can’t beat something with nothing, and Derb brings no spiritual armament to what is undeniably a spiritual battle.
