Nobody said it better than Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes: “I like paying taxes. With them I buy civilization.”

If you want to live in a crappy country that doesn’t produce anything, has a failing education system and a failed economy because the vast majority of people don’t have the money to buy anything, then fine, go ahead. But I’d like to live in a country that creates jobs and wealth by producing things that the rest of the world wants to buy. What we need is new ideas, products and services, and tax breaks for the wealthy has not accomplished this. In order to do that, we need to educate the next generation who will create our new products and services. We also need to rebuild crumbling infrastructure required to be a producing nation again. This requires sacrifice and investment. And to hear you folks whine about how being taxed a few dollars more is going to ruin you, well, it’s more than just pathetic, it’s unpatriotic. Do you live in America because you love America, or because you love money? It sounds to me that the latter reason holds more true for many of you. I love this country. I want to work to restore her former greatness. And I’m willing to pay a few more dollars if that’s what it takes. The fact that many of you are so vocally opposed to this just speaks volumes of your phoniness.
