Some people are just plain pigheaded.
Once any concept finds its way into their minds, they become married to it “until death do they part” – even if the concept turns out to be both incorrect and destructive. No matter how much they are mugged by reality, they refuse to let go. They develop antibodies against questioning it.
Sad.
