Weeks Before the Election, Obama Remains an Enigma

Robert Hurley:

If Obama is elected, I will trust God that He has allowed this for a reason. I will pray with increased fervor for my country. We’re a nation of laws and I will hope they’ll aid us in the days ahead.

But we’re a nation, too, of far too many blind, sleeping citizens. We don’t recognize evil. And so it overcomes us.

Our nation has fallen away; we’ve been on a path toward destruction for decades. We need an awakening. Obama’s election might very well do it. But I am human, and my automatic response is to fight it. I want to warn those who don’t see the danger before us.

Instead, I want ours to be a nation of leaders, who by their examples of faith and character, help guide us — especially in troubled times.

I know my words are harsh – and to some, evil – perhaps they should be tempered. But in my heart I know Obama knows not what he does. If he knew Truth, he could not have made the choices he has. Not a one. He too is blind. And is ultimately to be forgiven.

If I’ve understood the reason God has allowed evil in my life, it was to discover I needed Him to help me forgive others as He’s forgiven me. Though it wasn’t learned easily, it was the greatest blessing of my life.

Too often, it’s only when we’re stripped of what we value most in this life, that we finally return to the One we should have been trusting all along. “Have no other Gods before Me.” If only the lesson could be learned more easily.
