I think the Soviet Union got the post WWII recrudescence of Islamic jihad kick started in order to use them as proxies against the West. Yasir Arafat’s terrorists were trained in Eastern Europe and financed by the Soviet Union. So, mating Islamic jihad terrorism and ideology with their sponsored Leftist feminist groups makes strategic sense. I think the relationship has endured to this day.
