I’m a Brit who’s truly ashamed at the rabid anti-Americanism displayed by our media, most of whom are pseudo-intellectual snobs and champagne socialists who no doubt imagine themselves to be avant-garde but are in fact utterly in thrall to group-think. When the history of our times comes to be written, one of the great questions will be how to explain this anti-American psychosis on the part of the Europeans. Ignorance, of course, and psychological displacement; aware in their hearts of their increasing impotence in a dangerous world, they transfer their dismay and fear into anger at an America which can still act vigourosly to defend itself. Of course, future European and British history may well be in Arabic or Pushtu and proclaim that it was all Allah’s will, considering the feebleness of our so called elites.
Anyway, please let me conclude by asking you not to judge us by what some over paid clown writes in the papers. Believe it or not, there are still many of us over here who see America as the “last, best hope”.
