Europeans heap contempt on the United States because they are ashamed of themselves. Europeans peed in their pants over Slobodan Milosevic and left it to the United States to clean up their mess just like they left it up to us in both World Wars. I never get overwrought when the European inferiority complex goes on display.
Why do European elites like Obama and hate Palin? They know that they can manipulate the former while the latter will laugh at their pretensions.
