“there are also all too many people on the right who are mounting the barricades in the name not of freedom but of ethnic identity, cultural tradition, or religion..”
Thats what you don’t get in the book either: When you are a small country (Norway) with a 4 million population, being practically invaded by a country with a 167 762 040 population (Pakistan), you can’t expect people to defend themselves just by fighting for a general concept like “simple freedom”. Freedom can mean anything, eg Pakistanis freedom to join their family in Norway.
Ethnic identity, cultural and religious tradition is exactly what we must fight for if we want to survive as a nation. You seem to believe that all nations can just copy USA’s history, you don’t understand the uniqueness of your own counry.
