Gunned Down in Vegas: What Really Happened to Erik Scott?
i worked at Costco for 17 years. and i can tell you first hand upwards of 80% of the employees HATE the members to the 9th degree. And I wouldn’t put it past any single employee or manager to make some stupid member sound worse than he was just to get him kicked out of the store and in trouble. I have personally beaten up people who stole and then a group of us would lie to the cops about what happened. The cops usually work the same neighborhood and are often quite friendly with the Costco security people who throw them numerous free cases to bring in and also Costco pays huge taxes which is what the city police department really cares about anyway. None the less i can say with zero conflict that the security person was mad that the guy blew him off at the gun request and went to somebody and began to make the member sound bad because if as an employee you have an argument with a member it is the smart move to speak to management first and get them on your side believing that the member is just a problem. I have many times started a problem with a member and by the time I was done convincing the manager (who keep in mind i worked with everyday for years and the member is just some annoying customer) of my side of the story I turned some nice guy into a mean asshole even though i was a terrible worker and treated the customer like trash. Once it unfolded you have a group of people at Costco who worked together as friends for years doing what people in that situation do… Pick a story, stick to it, and keep the rest quiet. I promise if this same thing had happened to me my friends in Loss Prevention (Costco Security) would have made the video’s disappear also
