Palin Snub Rocks Jewish Community — and the Presidential Race
The extremely disturbing reminder in all this is how the left intends to use the power of government to silence criticism and dissent. Note the threat of loss of tax exempt status to force acceptance of their demand to silence someone on the right. If this is what they do when they are not even in power, imagine what they might be capable of if they control all branches of government.
This is just part of a larger pattern that has been emerging for a decade or more.
The Clintons used the IRS, with audits of every conservative organization and every “bimbo” that erupted due to Bill’s inability to keep it zipped. Several months ago a democratic group called for audits of the tax exempt status of any organization creating ads against Obama. The formal Obama organization just a few weeks ago incited their fanatics on two diffenent occasions to flood the call lines of a popular Chicago talk radio show with specific talking points to disrupt the interviews of two respected authors critical of Obama. And Obama himself, backed by both Pelosi and Reid, have expressed strong support for the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” which would have the effect of shutting down talk radio, the only real source of information that conservatives have outside the blogosphere. Free speech is already a joke in the politically correct atmospheres of every school and university in the nation, where no conservative is allowed to set foot. In the media, and even in polite company, we are proscribed from using specific words in the name of PC.
Obama has promised to bring us all together.
In my opinion, he and the left do not want to do that in the old fashioned way, by forging consensus and popular support by persuasion. He will use the more modern methods elucidated in the novel “1984″, using the overwhelming power of government to make certain we all think the same thoughts – leftist ones.
