Of course, this article does not resolve the issue of whether blue states (a) are in recession because they are blue; or (b) are blue because they are in recession; or (c) are blue and in recession because of a third factor, such as higher house inflation leading to a bigger crash. My guess would be that (a), (b), and (c) are all true to some extent.
