Ask Dr. Helen: Is This Election Causing More Male Bashing?
Helen, thank you for answering FMC, because that misplaced chivalry is one of the cornerstones of the problem. We’ll deal effectively with this problem once men finally figure out how dysfunctional and morally wrong that kind of chivalry really is.
As far as vulnerability of boys goes, I have to point out that boys from strong families have some resistance and immunity to this kind of social propaganda, but the ones from weaker families are far more vulnerable. In particular, African-American boys have almost no resistance to negative messages that they receive at school. It’s a triple-whammy for them; they have no support from home, they have negative stereotypes and expectation due to their race, and on top of that, they’re further pummeled for being born with a penis.
Is it any wonder that so few survive school with any sense of self intact? What the gender feminists need to be made to account for is their role in exacerbating the beating that black males take to their self-concept. And the consequences are tangible and obvious; for every black male in college, there are two black females. This is a formula for social disaster.
Make no mistake: the more the gender feminists beat up on males in general, the more the black males take the tangible damage disproportionately.
